Where have all the dogs gone?

Empty dog parks, closed dog day cares, closed overnight boarding facilities, and closed rescue facilities; these were the result of a recent outbreak of Canine Influenza.  Dog owners were warned, avoidance of other dogs was the best way to curtail the extremely infectious strain of canine flu impacting Chicagoland.  And, accordingly, public and private spaces where dogs usually congregate were extremely lonely the past couple of months.  Several annual dog festivals including the Anti-Cruelty Organization's Bark-in-the-Park were cancelled out of precaution and to help prevent the disease from spreading.

The Paulina Station merchants' planned pet adoption for Saturday May 16th was altered from a dog & cat rescue event to an Adoption Awareness and cat rescue event.  The Aayu Clinic will have the Tree House Humane Society with adoptable kittens from 12-3.   Other participating merchants will be passing out information about animal rescue groups in Chicago and participating in a virtual dog adoption by promoting dogs from the groups that planned on attending.
