Ongoing Service Programs*

SHOPLakeviewHolidayLogo.jpg

SHOP Lakeview is a favorite amongst many area residents. This rebate program rewards participants with $50 in SHOP Lakeview gift cards for every $300* spent at participating merchants. The 2011-2012 Holiday cycle will end on February 29, 2012. Consumers who spend just $300 at five participating businesses in the months of November and December will earn $50 in SHOP Lakeview cards. Consumers have the months of January and February, 2012 to redeem their SHOP Lakeview dollars once receipts have been processed.

The change to back to a SHOP Lakeview Holiday program is a result of the Lakeview Area Master Plan (LAMP), which was sponsored by the Lakeview Chamber and SSA 27 in 2010. The LAMP work plan and execution strategies will provide a blueprint for us to make improvements that will affect the whole community and help the Chamber and SSA 27:

  • Increase local shopping
  • Attract new customers to Lakeview
  • Attract new businesses to Lakeview
  • Develop more public spaces and streetscapes to encourage shoppers to linger
  • Retain our local shoppers and businesses
  • Develop bike safety and advocacy programs
  • Revitalize more facades in the SSA 27

We look forward to creating an even better Lakeview, which starts with making changes to some of our existing programs like SHOP Lakeview. If you have any questions regarding the change, feel free to call 773-472-7171 or email info@lakeviewchamber.com.

Sidewalk Sweeping Services

The Lakeview SSA 27 is currently contracted with CleanStreet to sweep the sidewalks in the service area.  Sidewalk sweeping is defined as: 'picking up loose trash and sweeping loose debris along sidewalks, curbs, gutters, remove trash from planters, around tree grates and emptying public baskets - for the public property described below:'

The defined area includes Lincoln (Ravenswood to Lakewood); Ashland (Addison to Diversey); Belmont (Paulina to Racine); Southport (Belmont to Byron)

The schedule is as follows:

January 1 - December 31: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

In the event that the above mentioned days is a recognized holiday (New Year's Day, MLK Birthday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, or on the day of a Chamber event) the work will be performed on the Tuesday following that holiday.

Landscaping and Seasonal Decorations

The Lakeview SSA 27 has purchased cement planters and funds seasonal decorations throughout the service area including Fall, Winter, and Summer.

Snow Removal

One of the pilot programs established during the constitution of the SSA was public way maintenance. This includes sidewalk sweeping throughout the year. Based on a lack of satisfactory service provided by a variety of vendors, the Commissioners of SSA 27 elected to table the snow removal program until further notice and use those funds more effectively in other areas.

Chicago Municipal Code, sections 4-4-310 and 10-8-180, specifies that both homes and businesses must clear snow from sidewalks next to their property.
