The ninth annual Spirit of Youth event on Friday, November 18, 2011, will include a cocktail reception, raffle, both a silent and live auction, and tours of the 2011 Dream House. The event will be held at the Merchandise Mart from 6-9 PM.

Executive Director of Lakeview Pantry Set to Walk 50 Miles against Hunger and Poverty

Gary Garland, Executive Director of Lakeview Pantry, is taking a different approact to ending hunger and poverty. Garland will walk 50 miles from his home in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to Lakeview Pantry in Chicago from June 21 to June 23 to increase awareness about hunger and poverty in Lakeview.

Community members can support 50 for Food by becoming a $50 Supporter or $100 Mile Sponsor. To donate, or to learn more, click HERE.

Chicago Kids Day!

Bring your kids for this fun event focused on creating an entertaining way to educate and teach kids about health and safety. Chicago KIDS Day is a community effort put on by real people who work in the community. Bring your kids and come enjoy free food, fun, balloons and prizes donated by local organizers and sponsors. Take advantage of free health screenings, fun activities, and raffle prizes.

Paulina Station Pet Adoption Event

Join the Paulina Station merchants as they help 9 pet rescue groups from across Chicagoland find new homes for their adoptable pets. If you have been thinking about adopting a dog or cat, you must attend the Pets @ Paulina event. You will be able to meet adoptable pets and the selfless groups who have made it their mission to save these wonderful pets.

YMCA Women's Health and Resource Fair

State Reps. Sara Feigenholtz (D-12) and Ann Williams (D-11) are collaborating with the Lake View YMCA to host a women's health and resources fair.

At this free event, guests can enjoy free mini-massage and acupuncture, self-defense demonstrations, and blood pressure, posture, foot, and spinal screenings. The YMCA is providing guest day passes for non-members and allowing attendees to participate in the YMCA's group fitness classes offered during the fair, including mat pilates at 10:30 a.m., TurboKick at 11:30 a.m., and zumba at 12:30 p.m. Class descriptions can be found at www.lakeviewymca.org. A family-friendly event, the Junior League of Chicago is providing kid-friendly activities.
